We all know that the previous Punjab govt. had always supported and advocated the ICT industry. There have been many projects based on information technology launched by PITB. Many processes that facilitate people, in general, are still under process. The ones that have been orchestrated to help not just the people but the govt. of Punjab are being launched regularly.
Mr. Omar Saif, who is the head of PITB (Punjab Information Technology Board) and an inspiration for IT professional recently, tweeted about the use of a smartphone, based monitoring system used by the drug inspectors. This system helps the drug inspector to report his visits to pharmacy outlets and drug manufacturers. This is a great way of knowing and making sure that the drug inspector does his visits regularly. This time stamp can be used for further investigations if needed as well.
This is not the only IT based venture done by the PITB. The other ventures that they boast to be done for the first time in Punjab and Pakistan are:

Because of the previous government, Govt. of Punjab also has an official twitter account where you can complain about hospitals and schools. And it is stated from personal experience that they not only respond but message you when your issue has been resolved. PITB also provide cloud computing services for new entrepreneurs along with proper guidance and capacity building. Their programs Plan9 and PlanX are already helping entrepreneurs to set up new businesses.
These systems are available in their respective departments and are integrated into the command center as well. Their complete detail is available on the PITB official website. The fact that our government is taking facilitation of people, a collaboration of different departments and a centralized management approach for transparent and efficient services, should be appreciated. As a person involved with the IT industry, I feel happy and proud that such a system is being made which will eventually make things better and feasible for everyone. Also, this puts us on the same level as other developed countries. A team of Japanese delegates is also here to evaluate Pakistan for future investment in this sector, based on the work done by the PITB so far. So from my side, I would say good job PITB and Punjab Govt.
