Customize iOS 11 control center:

The launch of iOS11 has been the talk of the town lately and rightly so! Everything related to Apple is a large scale and has some new things to offer. Their loyal fan base waits eagerly for their launches as does the tech world. So we all waited, holding our breaths for what iOS 11 has to offer. The launch of iOS 11 has made this September a special month for all the Apple lovers.

What are the new features of iOS 11?

  • ·         The control center has been redesigned so that all the things fit on one page, but there are some hidden options as well which can be easily accessed by long pressing or deep press.
  • ·         You can now customize your control center as per your preference; also you can add custom icons to the control center.
  • ·         You can activate emergency mode by pressing the sleep/ wake button 5 times. This would disable any face ID or touch ID if you are using it, so no one can force you to open your phone for them. You can also call 911 and medical help from this screen.
  • ·         Wi-Fi password can be shared by two iOS users by using this pop up seamlessly no matter how much complicated the password is.
  • ·         The most amazing feature is that now you can record your screen. Add the custom shortcut to the control center to record your screen. Using this you can record and save what you do and this can be saved as a movie file. This is an amazing option for developers and people like me, who tend to forget while trying to remember or tracing back their footsteps.
  • ·         Another new feature which a lot of you would love is that now you can save and display all your favorites GIFs in your photos app to be shared later.
  • ·         In iOS, you can configure Air Pod using two different shortcuts.
  • ·         Apple Maps is adding new features so now you can search for nearest malls and restaurants. This is not a new thing for Google Maps users but for apple maps lovers, this is a big thing.
  • ·         A very good and useful safety feature of iOS 11 is that it auto-detects when you are driving by your location and accelerometer and turns off the notifications so that you can concentrate on your driving. If you are in the habit of connecting your phone through Bluetooth to your car then iOS detects it easily.
  • ·         Apple has been learning the new trends of image editing and saving like other platforms. Now you can take a photo, open it and edit it on spot and the new thing is that you will be asked if you want to keep it or delete it.
  • ·         Another new feature is a real space saver especially if your phone is the 16 GB one. Now in your settings you can delete the apps you don’t frequently use, however, their icons will remain on your phone but the next time you want o use them, iPhone will download from App store.
  • ·         iOS 11 just became smart enough to scan a QR code when you point your phone’s camera towards it. Good news for WeChat users!
  • ·         Apple has improved its camera with every new release of phone and iOS. iOS 11 uses HEIF and HEVC, to reduce the size of the images and videos to almost half while maintaining its quality. And if you want to email the image or video iOS will automatically convert them into JPG and MP4 for non-iOS systems and devices.
  • ·         You can use the double keyboard in iPad; by swiping your finger on the alphabet you can also write a number. It is quietly efficient and useful once you get the hang of it! Although it is not a big thing for Android users but for iPad users it is a step forward.
  • ·         In iPad, you can scan a document in Notes app and the app will index your handwriting so it is easier to access your notes afterward.


How to customize the iOS 11 control center?

The most amazing feature of the iOS 11 is that you can customize the control center to your requirements and preference. Use the following information to do so:

  • ·         To choose your own buttons, go to the settings -> control center -> customize controls. There will be an option of More Controls, use it to Add Button in front of any button you want to add. You can also Remove Button to get rid of any button you don’t need.
  • ·         You can also customize your apps in your control center. Just click and hold any button you want to modify. You can change the feature through the options that will be given when you hold the button. Modifications like setting timers, changing flashlights brightness etc.

The new features may not sound a big deal for Android users but for iOS users, iOS 11 brings a lot of new changes and advancements. There were many features that they envied because Android users had them. Apple has made a lot of progress in the right direction. Their apps are getting better, the camera and related features are progressing. iOS 11 has been looked forward to by the Apple users and their patience and hopefulness have paid them off as iOS 11 has brought many new features that will surely make them happier and their life easier.
